Potassium lignite is specially lignite material which has been carefully reacted with caustic potash. It is a fine dry powder easy to disperse in the drilling fluid. Potassium lignite is designed for use in potassium systems to control theology and reduce fluid loss plus provide potassium for shale inhibition. Potassium lignite is compatible with all water base systems. Potassium lignite is highly soluble in normal pH muds and is stable at high drilling mud temperatures. It has good tolerance for soluble contaminants.
Potassium lignite is designed for use in high muds and in potassium chloride polymer – dispersed systems. Its primary function is fluid loss reduction and shale hydration. Approximately 2.0 7.0 ppb of Potassium lignite is recommended to achieve shale inhibition and water loss control.
